Dale Ratcliff’s colorful paintings are characterized by lively brushwork and strong design. She especially enjoys the challenge of plein-air work, trying to catch the fleeting effects of light. Dale is a graduate of the University of Maine and returns to Maine frequently on painting trips. She belongs to many professional organizations, including the Rockport Art Association, North Shore Arts Association, Academic Artists Association, and Hudson Valley Art Association. A teacher of plein air classes and workshops, Dale also demonstrates and judges for art groups. Some of her awards include the “Aldro Hibbard Award” (NSAA), the “Carl Peters Prize” (RAA), the “Sharon Ortlip Award” (Salmagundi Club), the “Juror’s Choice Award” (AAA) and the “Silver Medal Award” (RAA).
